🧠 About Sarah Sigler

I help students and educators understand their minds, and help institutions build campuses where wellbeing is part of everyday life. I bring more than ten years across education, psychology practice, corporate training and television to every session and every stage.

I teach Advanced Program Psychology and Applied Psychology to high school students, serve on my school’s MTSS team, and practise counselling under clinical supervision. I founded Shalom Mental Wellness Academy to bring counselling, lectures and campus programmes together in one place.

  • M.A. Psychology, IGNOU
  • B.Ed.
  • Diploma in Positive Psychology
  • POSH and POCSO trained
  • Six Sigma trained
  • B.A. Journalism (Hons.)

Before psychology, I worked as a journalist and television host. That background is why my talks are clear, human and easy to act on.

Why so many people struggle to set boundaries

Written by Sarah Sigler, Mental Wellness Consultant, Shalom Mental Wellness Academy

Many people learn early that being good means being available: always helping, never disappointing anyone. Families, especially in collectivist cultures, often praise self-sacrifice. Over time a person who says “I will do everything” is believed, and others adapt. One person becomes overwhelmed while everyone else grows dependent.

Often the issue is not that they never spoke up. Their boundary was not clear, direct, consistent, or followed by action. Effective boundaries need all four.

Healthy boundaries do not reduce love. They make love sustainable.

When caregiving becomes identity

Written by Sarah Sigler, Mental Wellness Consultant, Shalom Mental Wellness Academy

“My son won’t eat unless I feed him.” “Nobody does it properly except me.” These sound loving, but they are interpretations, not facts. Sometimes they reflect a need to feel needed.

A parent’s job is to gradually become less necessary as a child becomes more capable. Children build confidence by doing: carrying their own bags, helping with chores, solving age-appropriate problems and learning from mistakes. Skills grow through repetition, not perfection.
